Resisting the Walled World

English Workshop

Migration is a fact of human existence, yet it is also increasingly monitored and policed. The concept of the „Walled World“ illustrates how border walls increasingly shape our perception of „us and them“ creating a zone of inclusion and those outside it. In this workshop we will learn about the criminalization of migration in Greece and creative forms of solidarity to open up corridors of mutual freedom.

Drawing on the experience of Community Peacemaker Teams working in Lesbos, we will also bring these observations home to ask how we work for a deep solidarity of mutual liberation and a shared future.

Benni Isaak-Krauß ist überzeugt, dass die Grenzen unserer Vorstellungskraft die Grenzen unseres Handelns beeinflussen.

Daher spielt er gerne Brettspiele, liest historische Bücher, engagiert sich bei Community Peacemaker Teams und ist Ko-Pastor der Mennonitengemeinde Frankfurt.

Christina Karvouni ist Ethnologin und Menschenrechtsaktivistin. Sie lebt auf der Insel Lesbos und engagiert sich seit mehreren Jahren im Bereich Migration, zuletzt als Program Support Coordinator des Aegean Migrant Solidarity Projekts von Community Peacemaker Teams. Community Peacemaker Teams unterstützt lokale Friedensstifter:innen in Kontexten tödlicher Gewalt, um Gewalt und Unterdrückung gewaltfrei zu überwinden.
